Drink of the Week: Gaelic Flip

Gloria Mak, Howl Staff

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I trust that everyone is going through a good drinking week; if not, then here’s the perfect recipe to rectify it.

Ingredients:

1-1/4 ounces Irish Whiskey

1 ounce sweet vermouth

1 teaspoon allspice liqueur

½ ounce simple syrup

1 egg

Directions:

Place all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and dry shake for 30 seconds and then add ice to the shaker for another 30 seconds. Strain the mixture into a cocktail glass and garnish with nutmeg (optional).

This drink is very reminiscent of Christmas, especially with the syrup, egg and nutmeg garnish. The egg gives the drink a smooth texture, but also makes it heavy on the stomach. This drink would be a good afternoon snack or a dessert.
