Drink of the Week: the Original Mai Tai

Gloria Mak, Howl Staff

With this warmer weather, how better to cool off than with a cool drink? Enjoy a citrusy mai tai on a sunny patio while you watch sweaty fools trudge the burning pavements of Toronto. It’s also a great drink to accompany an evening meal as you watch the sunset.

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces aged rum
  • 3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice, juiced lime half reserved
  • 1/2 ounce orange Curacao
  • 1/4 ounce Rich Simple Syrup, also known as rock candy syrup
  • 1/4 ounce orgeat syrup
  • 1 cup crushed ice
  • 1 mint sprig, for garnish
